Teach me to Pray Course

Have you ever wondered if there is a “right” way to pray? Have you ever wondered if or how God hears our prayers? Do you think of prayer as a plea to change God’s mind? What happens to you when you pray? Does prayer make a difference?

If you have ever had any questions about prayer, or would simply like to learn how to start praying or deepen your prayer life, then sign up for a 6 week course that teaches some proven methods to help support you in prayer.

In a small group setting at NBUC, you will discover and experience the power of prayer!

On February 15, 2016 North Bramalea United Church was privileged to welcome to Canada a family of 7 from Syria.

Over the past few months, Saif (16), Ossama (12), Malak (9) and Mohammad Ali (5) have settled into their new schools.  Amal has been learning English, and Tala (3) has been making new friends at a child care centre.  Amer continues with his work with an international medical supply company.  Through the efforts of countless volunteers, the family has visited Niagara Falls, has made trips to the doctor, dentist and optometrist offices, and has started swimming lessons!

The summer promises to be an exciting time for the family.  The children are looking forward to day camps at NBUC, and are also planning to participate in camps operated by the City of Brampton Parks and Recreation Department.  They have their calendars marked for the Lucas Holtom Carnival Day on July 9, and we at NBUC are thrilled to be able to share this special day with them.

Even more excitingly, North Bramalea United Church will be partnering with Heart Lake United Church to help sponsor Amer’s brother, wife and 2 children, who are currently living in Jordan.  What a wonderful opportunity for the United Church to unite for such a worthwhile endeavor!

The Refugee Sponsorship Group would like to thank all from NBUC and the community for their generous efforts and contributions.  We have been enriched through new friendships, and have been able to live out our faith in real and tangible ways as followers of Christ.  The church is as alive and relevant today as ever, and we are grateful to be a part of God’s great hopes for our world.
